I hate money for a totally different reason from any that I have read. I call it the minimalist's paradox.

I hate money because I hate stuff. If you have stuff, then you have to spend more time and money to maintain it, insure it, protect it, etc. etc. I really hate buying anything durable because even after researching it and deciding that I am getting a good value and it is something I need, half the time I wind up using for a while but then not using it very much after that. This is true with investments as well, although in different ways. And if you don't like stuff it's really hard to invest in things you know, because you never buy anything anyway! And if you just hold cash because you hate to spend it on anything, inflation is going to eat away at it, and any interest you earn trying to fight inflation is going to be taxed.

Hating money for these reasons is like hating cars because people get into accidents and die. You're totally misplacing the blame.

I was hoping for a positive conclusion: that you don't have to have a job you hate because if your passion helps others, then you can make lots of money from it (if it doesn't, it's not helping others or you haven't monetized it correctly). Even without working in an office. You don't have to sacrifice your heart for your wallet. You may not be able to quit your job immediately, but over a period of months or years (shorter the more dedicated you are), you can create ways to become less job-reliant. If you love to play the piano, become a piano teacher.

On the other hand, if you're depressed after reading this, I wrote The Perks of Having a Job just for you. :D

I hate money because it seem that unless you have it you lead very boring exsistance. I feel that this life was meant entirly for the wealthy or rich. I mean I save and save for a vaction and I finally get there and unless you have more money you have to sit in a hotel room.

Also, it is hard when you have reletives with more money than they know what to do with and then they invite you out and you just smile because just the sight of the house blows you away. It is to the point that money can put a damper on family. Money only creates gaps. I had a great relationship with my aunt when I was young but now that I am older and she had a ton of money I give up. I just wish that our differences did not show through.

Great Post (my life in a nutshell)

I'm not sure if this was written already. But I hate money because there are things I want to do with it but I don't have enough to do them all. And because I can't figure out what I want to do the most, I don't do anything at all except what I need to stay alive. So while I would hate to have even less of it. If I did only have enough to live, I wouldn't be tormented about feeling I needed to choose. I think that's an understandable reason to hate money.

It was somewhat easier before because I kept such a negative outlook on the world that I didn't consciously want much. Like I thought the world is shit so why would I want any of it. But now, if I look at the world and see all these beautiful wonderful things it's miserable not having them. So there's something to be said for cynicism. It's a useful buffer to the pain of longing.

I Read that and smiled i totally agree. Excluding the kids part, and the rich people part (I dont even pay attention) I absolutely hate money. And not everybody that has it deserves it- not everbody that doesnt have it deserves that either. I have nothing- after trying and trying. Im 18- am going to University next year and do not have a penny to my name. After applying to job after job.. alongside schooling. I know im intelligent- Ive seen some of the people they hire and its not what you know its who you know these days. I HATE the pressure money puts on people- I HATE that people dedicate their lives to chasing it (and 'it' only) instead of happiness and dreams, I hate that people place so much importance on it over other things. I HATE that it can make people feel worthless and powerless and in self doubt. I HATE that I cant help people who I'd like to and theres others making money in illicit ways doing jack sh*t with theirs. I just HATE money- I know I need it to live- but I still HATE it. I wont let it rule me- I refuse to. I left my job last year at 17 because I wasnt happy- everyone said to stick to it for MONEY. Being depressed with money is just as bad as being depressed without money for me personally. You can enjoy the finer things in life but I hate the emphasis and flaunting and love people have of money above all else. Ive added my 2c. Great Post!

The problem is Human. Take them out of the equation and every problem in the world is solved. Pollution and disease would not exist. The world would be a better place. Humankind has not offered the world anything positive, because humans only think of themselves. We are a very selfish greedy species. We act more like a virus. We migrate to an area and multiply. We are like "aids", slowly killing Earth everyday.

This is such a good list. I love it. It's good to know my hate of money (as a taskmaster in life) is quite well-founded and justifiably shared by huge numbers of people.
