I stopped reading when I got to the part you said people should not do what they love. I'm in one of the top three liberal arts colleges in the country (I will not say which one) and if there is one thing I have learned, it is how to think. There us absolutely no way that I will spend 30-40 years of my adult life working at some job I despise. I do not care about how much the salary is, and I downright refuse to slave for 40 hours a week simply to pay bills and have money left over to buy a crappy yatch or wear a rolex watch. No amount of money can buy happiness. If I have to be at work from 8 to 5, I MUST be passionate about, and love what I am doing. College opens the doorway that lets you do what you want. Major in what you enjoy and once you get out, do what you like. Be happy. That is what life is about. I'm not saying be poor, but if you put in the time and effort, you will excel and have enough to live comfortably. It is just plain dumb to do what you hate fir like 50 weeks a year just so you can have money to ride in a private jet every once in a while. It is far better to actually wake up in the morning and care about the job you are doing and look forward to getting to work. This was typed from an iPhone so there may be typos here and there. I don't feel like reading over.

There's always an exception to the rule. But in the REAL WORLD the percentage of people in this economy coming straight out of school with no REAL experience and making a six figure income is practically ZERO. In the general population a six figure income is top 5%. Besides...what's your advice anyway?
Sounds like BS to me....you don't pass the smell test.

Sounds nice to know that you've accomplished a lot in your lifestyle, but doing the things you love pursuing is, is an experience where it leads you to another step, we choose different majors throughout college. So, there is nothing wrong with doing something you love, money doesn't make you happy. God makes you happy.

It's a great life-story, but I don't think that you are really "retirred" from doing money and- why not-working.
Personaly I enjoy doing what I like very much, but I can't imagine myself doing theese things al day long, for the rest of my life. I think a greater purpose must be involved here to realy bring you the satisfaction in life.
I think this is just a faze of your life, this "retirement" thing. Eventualy you will feel the need to do something usefull in life, for you and for others as well, even when you have enought money.(sorry for my english, I haven't practiced it for a long time :))
